The Christmas Beatles
December 2005, 2006, 2007
Monash University
It all started mid-last year when Gerry and Matt were talking:
"Beatles songs are great fun" ...
"Yeah. How much fun would it be to do an entire concert of Beatles stuff"
"Yeah..."
...and it just snowballed from there - we put on a gig just before Christmas at Monash Uni, with over 20 people on stage at various times. The main conspirators were Gerry "Lennon" Considine, Matt "McCartney" Yeung, Trent "Harrison" Gill, Matt "Starr" Latimer and Dan "George Martin" Duke, but the thing that really made it were all the cameos and the cool ideas everyone put together.
It's not run by the Philharmonic society - though we happen to know a lot of musicians through the Phil - it's just done by us for kicks.
Beatles '05
We had an idea, we had the music, we had the players, we had the venue... Everything was set, we just hoped we had an audience.
We're Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band
We hope you have enjoyed the show
As it turned out we had a huge audience and Beatles '05 went down as a night to be remembered. Little did we know that The Christmas beatles 2005 was the start of a tradition that would last... well, at least two years
Beatles '06
So with such a successful 2005 concert, what would happen in 2006!? Long story short, last minute rehearsals and venue planning ultimately resulted in a concert even better than the previous year!
I admit it's getting better
A little better all the time
Yes I admit it's getting better
It's getting better since you've been mine
All in all it was a fantastic night enjoyed by all, there was much Beatles, drinks, pizzas and general jollyfication all round!
Beatles '07
The Christmas Beatles are here again. This year the revamped Beatles are back bigger and more exciting than ever before!!!
We've got John, Paul, George, Ringo and a huge host of other players - over 20 I think. It's the authentic Beatles songs you know and love (meticulously reproduced!) plus a few good rocky ones to dance to. Bring your dancing moves and your best 60s outfit -
